Good pruning is invisible — the tree just looks healthier, lets in more light, and stands up better to wind. We remove dead, crossing, and weak limbs, lift canopies over roofs and driveways, and thin crowns properly instead of topping. The result is a tree that looks natural and lasts.
Signs you may need tree trimming & pruning
- Limbs touching the roof, gutters, or siding
- Branches hanging low over the driveway or sidewalk
- Dead wood in the canopy
- Crossing or rubbing branches
- A dense crown that blocks light and wind
- Limbs growing toward power lines
How we do it
- 1
Assess the tree
We look at species, structure, and your goals — clearance, light, view, or health.
- 2
Prune with purpose
Cuts are made at the branch collar so the tree seals properly. We never top trees.
- 3
Shape and balance
We keep the natural form while reducing weight on long, heavy limbs.
- 4
Clean up
Every branch is chipped or hauled, and the yard is raked and blown.
Why we never top trees
Topping cuts the main stems back to stubs. It causes weak, fast regrowth, decay, and often kills the tree. Proper reduction cuts back to healthy lateral branches so the tree stays strong.
When is the best time to prune?
Late winter, while trees are dormant, is ideal for most species in Tennessee — wounds close fast in spring and it's easy to see the structure. Dead or dangerous limbs should be removed any time of year.
Pruning young trees pays off
A few well-placed cuts on a young tree prevent big structural problems later. We set up a strong central leader and good branch spacing for decades of healthy growth.

Tree Trimming & Pruning questions
How often should trees be trimmed?
Most mature shade trees benefit from pruning every 3–5 years. Younger trees and fast growers may need it every 1–3 years.
Will trimming hurt my tree?
Not when it's done correctly. We remove no more than needed and make proper cuts so the tree seals itself.
Do you trim trees near power lines?
We clear branches growing toward service lines to your home. Main distribution lines are handled with the utility.
