Tree planting is one of our specialties. We help you pick species that suit Middle Tennessee's clay soil and climate, place them where they'll have room to grow, and plant them at the correct depth so they establish fast and live long.
Signs you may need tree planting
- Replacing a tree you recently removed
- Adding shade to a sunny yard or patio
- Building privacy along a property line
- New construction with a bare lot
- Adding spring blooms or fall color
How we do it
- 1
Choose the tree
We recommend native and well-adapted species based on your space, sun, and goals.
- 2
Site the hole
We plan for mature size, away from foundations, lines, and septic fields.
- 3
Plant correctly
Root flare at grade, loosened roots, native soil backfill, and a proper mulch ring.
- 4
Aftercare plan
You get simple watering instructions for the first two growing seasons.
Great trees for Middle Tennessee
Willow oak, red maple, tulip poplar, river birch, redbud, dogwood, Eastern red cedar, and American holly all handle our heat and clay soil well. We'll match one to your yard.
Fall is planting season
Planting in fall gives roots months to grow before summer heat. Spring planting works too with a little extra watering.

Tree Planting questions
Do you provide the tree?
Yes, we can source and plant the tree, or plant one you've already purchased.
How far from my house should a tree be planted?
Large shade trees should usually be 20+ feet from the foundation; smaller ornamentals can be closer. We'll site it properly.
